Geri Fury
Geri says, “Quilting is my passion.” She made her first quilt in the 5th grade in Birmingham Alabama, and her sister says she still has it. When she was pregnant with her first baby she made a animal embroidery quilt. “My aunts made us lots of quilts and we also had them in our home. I still have a few of these quilts and they are well loved. I can’t remember a time that I was not quilting” When she moved to Eureka, Geri started taking classes at Eureka High Adult Ed. “At the time we used templates. And all sewing was done by hand. I fondly remember the first time I used a rotary cutter,” she remembers. Geri made quilts by hand for all her kid’s beds.
In recent years she started to teach classes and really enjoy teaching. Geri does wonderful machine quilting on her home machine. Geri has a well-stocked quilting studio at her home. She’s made quilts for the entire family….which includes her husband of 46 years, Ron, three children, six grandchildren, two special dogs and grand-dogs.
